As a Church Aided School, Northbourne School has an additional statutory inspection every 5 years. This inspection, known as SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) is independent of Ofsted and evaluates the distinctiveness and effectiveness of Northbourne as a church school. This inspection addresses 4 core questions:
1. How well does the school, through its distinctive Christian character, meet the needs of all learners?
2. What is the impact of collective worship on the school community?
3. How effective is the religious education?
4. How effective are the leadership and management of the school as a church school?
Our Governors evaluate our effectiveness as a church school on an ongoing basis as part of their role, using these broad areas to guide this work. Our last SIAMs inspection took place in February 2017 and judged us to be outstanding overall, with strengths in collective worship and our distinctive Christian character.
