‘Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness’ –   Joseph Pilates

At Northbourne we want to all children to enjoy participating in physical education and develop a positive attitude towards fitness and healthy lifestyles as well as developing their skills in specific sports and sporting attitudes.  Our carefully planned curriculum, as well as our extra-curricular provision, supports this.

Our PE uniform consists of our green school PE T-shirt (available from the office in the full range of sizes), worn with dark shorts or jogging bottoms, depending on the PE activity being carried out and the weather. Hoodies or sweatshirts should be worn in the winter or colder weather to ensure this does not affect the ability of children to take part in these lessons.  We ask that children wear trainers for PE, rather than plimsolls, as these provide far better support for the ankle. From September 2020, we ask that children come to school dressed in their PE uniforms on the day of their lessons; these are shown below:

Puffins & Swans Thursday
Nightingales Tuesday and Friday
Robins  Monday and Wednesday
Wrens Wednesday and Friday
Owls Monday and Tuesday
Falcons Tuesday and Wednesday
Hawks Tuesday and Friday
Kites Tuesday and Thursday
Eagles Monday and Thursday

PE & Sport Premium Funding

The PE Premium is ring-fenced funding delegated to schools to ensure they are able to fulfil the Department for Education’s vision of all pupils leaving primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.  We share these aims fully and use this money carefully to help meet them.

Find out how we have used the funding, and how we are using it in the current school year by using the link below: PE & Sport Premium.
